1. type them into the textbox under the "Gene Identifiers" tab
2. upload a file of identifiers under the "File Upload" tab. When uploading a list of identifiers, the IDs you provide must all be of the same type, eg, all must be gene symbols, or UniGene IDs, etc. 
3. select a Gene List from the "Gene Lists" tab. These lists are composed of Entrez Gene IDs.

Next, the type of identifier must be selected from the drop-down menu. You must select the correct type of identifier that corresponds to the identifiers you entered above or no matches will be found.

Finally, you select the identifier outputs you want and click the "Translate" button. All available translations are shown in the "outputs" section. Different translations are available for different types of identifiers, and the list of available translations will change depending on the input identifier type. Within any set of translations, you click on the checkbox next to each specific translation that you want or you can click on "set all" or "unset all". Clicking on either a checkbox or the "un/set all" links will cause that section to highlight, indicating that these are the translations that will be made when the "Translate" button is clicked. (It is possible to select check boxes from different sections; however, only translations from the highlighted section will be performed.)
